This is the working model of a late 19th-century showman’s road locomotive made by famous English toy manufacturer Mamod. These steam-powered engines provided power for traveling fun fairs during the late 19th century and were main attractions themselves. This model has all the design features of its forebears, including twisted brass roof supports, yellow painted wheels, and a dynamo that powers 10 LEDs that suspend from the underside of its authentic full-length canopy. And like the originals, it accepts ordinary tap water poured into its boiler. Three of the 20 included fuel tablets placed into its burner tray heat the boiler’s water supply, providing up to 15 minutes of operation.
