The Hydroponic Garden Lamp
This is the hydroponic desktop garden with an aesthetically elegant built-in grow lamp that provides the necessary light for optimal plant growth. The lamp casts nine watts of light downward in three intensities from a circular array of LEDs to provide light for plants while a separate switch casts 1/2 watts of soft ambient room light upward. Six 2″-diam. openings in the lamp’s base accommodate soil-free hydroponic plugs (or two soil-based seedlings), such as ferns, succulents, tropicals, or herbs.
The aquaponic growth medium is composed of natural volcanic rock. An open column built into the lamp’s shade provides access for filling the 50-oz. reservoir with water, which provides up to two weeks of water, depending upon the plant species.
