The Pythagorean Wine Glass
Inspired by Greek mathematician Pythagoras, this is the wine glass with a concealed inner pipe that immediately drains all the liquid if the vessel is filled past a certain point. Said to have been devised to expose Pythagoras’s gluttonous students at a banquet, the elegant stemware functions like a normal wine glass when filled to a moderate level.
If the beverage is poured in excess, however, a concealed siphon pushes the wine into the hollow stem so it spills out the bottom in a greed-revealing splash. The uncheatable chalice has a tapered rim and wide bowl to enhance a vintage’s aroma, and it is fashioned from dishwasher-safe glass.
