The Pivot Frame Plectocycle
This is the handcrafted plectocycle reminiscent of the original 1884 model. Its unusual name is a reference to its unique pivoting frame, derived from the Greek word “plecto” meaning twist or bend, that provided cyclists with a vehicle that could navigate turns with unparalleled safety and smoothness.
The plectocycle provides riders with a right-hand lever that controls the front wheel via rack and pinion steering and a left-hand lever that operates the brake. Nickel-plated pedals propel its chain-driven over-sized 71″ H rear wheels. Manufactured in the Czech Republic by a company dedicated to recreating the golden age of penny-farthing, it has powder-coated seamless steel tubing, and a plush leather seat.
