The Electric Peel Micro Car
This is the faithful reproduction of a Peel Trident, a two-seat, three-wheeled microcar originally built on England’s Isle of Man between 1965-1966. Measuring only 72†long x 42†wide, it is still one of the smallest cars in the world, placing its driver and a passenger just 12†from the ground. Known in its time as “The Terrestrial Flying Saucer†due to its eclectic bubble top, only 82 originals were built.
Manufactured in the UK using many of the same materials as the original, including its fiberglass body and steel frame, this model is updated with a 3 hp electric moped engine that provides a 28 mph maximum speed for two riders weighing a total of 300 lbs.
It rolls on three 9â€-diam. wheels with rubber tires—the rear wheel provides power while the driver steers the front wheels and stops with all-wheel brakes—also has a reverse gear, which the originals lacked. Its on-board rechargeable battery provides a 15-mile range before requiring a five-hour charge using the included 110-volt AC adapter. Consult local ordinances for road legal use. Gasoline version also available. Special conditions and guarantee apply.
