The Negative Space Watch
This is the wood-case watch that displays the time using the optical concept of negative space. Typical liquid crystal displays use 28 electrodes that darken against a grey background to form numbers 0-9. This watch rearranges the electrodes into an ever-changing grid that serves as the outline for numbers formed from the resulting negative space of the watch’s red background. The top row displays the hour while the bottom displays the minute (10:45 is shown). Displays the date and year. Includes alarm setting and backlight. The sandalwood case is polished smooth and finished with a clear coating that retains the wood grain’s luster.
