These are the wheeled Nordic walking poles that engage the core and upper body muscles for improved fitness. Made in Germany where Nordic walking has become a popular warm-season activity enjoyed from Bavaria to Quakenbrueck, the source of their origin, each curved aluminum pole has a forearm brace, contoured handgrip, and rugged wheel that together provide fluid yet effective resistance for the shoulders, triceps, and back muscles while walking. Similar to the motions of a cross-country skier, alternating strides thrust the arms forward – the rubber wheel at the end of each pole rolls smoothly forward then locks in-place to serve as a push-off point for the next stride, increasing the heart rate beyond that of normal walking.
