Is It Time For A Tablet?

Do you like tablets? 3 years ago I would have answered this inquiry with "thank you for asking, but I always choose a good notebook over a tablet". Now my answer is "I cannot imagine a day without my tablet."

Technology changes our behaviour so fast. Look at me: in the morning on my way to the kitchen I grab my Xperia™ Tablet do a quick check for important emails or Facebook messages. I prepare my coffee and for the next half hour I read the most important emails, give some "likes" on Facebook and browse on the Internet to read headlines in technology.

After that I'm ready to go to work. On my way to work the Xperia™ Tablet is always next to me ready for a chat with my friends if I'm "lucky" enough to have my car grind to a halt in the traffic jams.

Maybe I'm a heavy user of tablets but out of every table user in 2012 30% use their tablet daily according to the infographic that you can see at the end of this article. And I'm sure that this trend is expected to continue into 2013.

People use tablets not only for normal activities like watching movies, Facebook or for browsing the Internet. A friend of mine uses his tablet as a remote control to command the TV, Blu-ray Disc player and HiFi system! My tablet is powered by Android and the numbers of apps available on Google play exceed 700,000 and most of those apps are free to download.

What do you think about tablets from a technology point of view? Do you have a tablet? Do you plan to buy one soon? What is next step in the evolution of tablets?
