The Brandenburg Gate is one of the Berlin and Germany’s most important monuments-an architectural landmark and a historical symbol in one.
Commissioned by King Frederick William II or Prussia and completed in 1791, it is the only one out of the original 18 City gates still standing today. Atop the gate in the famous Quadriga statue, a chariot drawn by four horses driven by Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory.
