These spectacular timepieces used to be the height of scientific advancement, a symbol of status and wealth since only the wealthiest members of society were able to afford them. It took an incredible amount of skill and craftsmanship to think up, design, and build each pocket watch by hand; so much so that you had to become a dedicated apprentice to a master watch maker for years before you became proficient. This in mind, Stuhrling decided to come out with its own line of pocket watches for the Montres de Poche Series.
